Omsukchan
Omsukchan
an urban-type settlement and administrative center of Omsukchan Raion, Magadan Oblast, RSFSR. It is located on the eastern slope of the Omsukchan Range, on a highway, 586 km northeast of Magadan. Omsukchan has ore-dressing (tin ores) and woodworking combines and two reindeer-breeding sovkhozes.
Omsukchan
a mountain range in Magadan Oblast, RSFSR, between the Balygychan and Sugoi rivers (right tributaries of the Kolyma River). It is 300 km long and has elevations to 1,962 m. The axial part is composed of chalk effusions; along the periphery there are Mesozoic sandstone and slate. The northern parts of the range are characterized by rolling terrain. In the south, elevations are greater and the peaks and crests are jagged. Poplar forests are found along the valleys, and there are sparse larch forests on slopes up to elevations of 800–900 m. Still higher, there is mountain tundra and alluvial deposits.
