Khantaika

 

a river in Krasnoiarsk Krai, RSFSR; a right tributary of the Enisei. The Khantaika measures 174 km in length and drains an area of 30,700 sq km. It originates at Lake Maloe Khantaiskoe, which is connected by a channel with Lake Khantaiskoe. The river is fed by snow and rain. The ratio of the lake surface to the drainage area is 5.4 percent. The mean flow rate is 590 cu m per sec. The river freezes in October, and the ice breaks up in the first half of June. The Khantaika is navigable for 63 km of its course. The Ust’-Khantai Hydroelectric Power Plant is situated on the river.
