Loktev, Konstantin Borisovich
Born June 16, 1933, in Moscow. Soviet athlete (ice hockey), Honored Master of Sport (1964), Soviet Army officer, coach. Member of the CPSU since 1963. Champion of the USSR (ten times in 1955–66), the world (1964–66), Europe (1958–60, 1964–66), and the Winter Olympics (1964).
From 1957 to 1966, Loktev played with the Central Army Sports Club and USSR combined teams, in the offensive unit with V. V. Aleksandrov and A. D. Al’metov, Honored Masters of Sport and many times Soviet, European, and world, champions and winners of the Winter Olympics in 1964. This offensive unit, with perfect technique and tactical virtuosity, is known in the history of modern hockey under the symbolic name “Grand Master Trio.” Loktev has been awarded the Order of the Badge of Honor and various medals.
