mean arterial pressure

mean arterial pressure

The intraarterial pressure that would exist at the output node of the heart if there were no arterial pulse, calculated as diastolic pressure + (systolic pressure minus diastolic pressure)/3.

mean arterial pressure

An average of the blood pressure over the cardiac cycle, roughly equal to the diastolic pressure plus one third of the difference between the diastolic and the systolic pressure (i.e. the pulse pressure).
