(Model-maker-Designer), a monthly popular science and technical magazine of the Central Committee of the Komsomol. It first appeared in 1962 as an almanac entitled lunyi Modelist-Konstruktor (Young Model-maker-Designer) and has been published monthly in Moscow under its present title since 1966. The magazine treats questions of scientific and technical creative work by Soviet young people, production engineering, the design of new amateur equipment, and the activity of public design bureaus, clubs, and young engineers’ groups. It deals with the history of Russian, Soviet, and foreign technology and relates the combat deeds of Soviet pilots, tank crew members, and seamen. Drawings, descriptions, and other materials for model-makers and amateur designers are published. The magazine has a section devoted to military-technical sports. Circulation, 400,000 (1974).
