Batyrsha Aliev
Batyrsha Aliev
(Abdulla Aleev). Born about 1710; died in 1762.
Batyrsha was a Bashkir mullah, who drafted an appeal early in 1755, calling upon the Bashkirs, Tatars, Kazakhs, and Uzbeks to wage a holy war against the “infidels,” that is, the Russians. Batyrsha took part in the revolt which then started, but he did not lead it, and the revolt was not carried out under his slogans. At the decisive moment Batyrsha and his closest assistants deserted the insurgents. In August 1756, Batyrsha was arrested and imprisoned in the Shlissel’burg Fortress, where he died.
