Khatanga Gulf
Khatanga Gulf
an inlet of the Laptev Sea. Khatanga Gulf is 220 km long; its greatest width is 54 km. Bol’shoi Begichev Island divides the entrance to the gulf into two channels: The northern channel is 13 km wide, and the eastern one is 8 km. The gulf’s maximum depth is 29 m. Khatanga Gulf is the outlet of the Khatanga River. Its shores are steep and jagged. Tides are semidiurnal and have a maximum variation of 1.4 m. The gulf is icebound most of the year.
