nonsense suppressor a MUTATIONthat produces an altered TRANSFER RNA that will insert an AMINO ACID during TRANSLATION in response to a NONSENSE CODON (generated by a NONSENSE MUTATION). In this way the termination of translation, specified by the nonsense codon, is suppressed. See also SUPPRESSOR MUTATION. |
