Lombard Alps
the collective designation for mountain ranges and massifs of the Alps mainly in the area of the Italian administrative region of Lombardy. They include the southern part of the Rhaetian Alps (the Bernina massif with elevations to 4,049 m) and the Ortles and Adamello massifs. Situated south of the longitudinal Valtellina valley with the Adda River are the Bergamasque Alps (Lombard Pre-Alps) and the large lakes of Maggiore, Como, Iseo, and Garda.
