Lombard Plain
Lombard Plain
a part of the Po Basin in Lombardy, in northern Italy. Elevations range from 300-400 m at the foot of the Alps to 20-50 m in the Po River valley. The Lombard Plain is composed primarily of river alluvium and sediments from the meltwater of ancient glaciers. Settlements, fields, and orchards cover a significant area. The large city of Milan is on the plain.
