Khilovo

a balneological and pelotherapeutic resort in Pskov Oblast, RSFSR, 10 km from Porkhov. The summers are moderately warm, with an average July temperature of 17°C; the winters are mild, with an average January temperature of – 8°C. Annual precipitation is about 550 mm. Treatment includes bathing in waters containing hydrogen sulphide, calcium sulfate, and calcium bicarbonate. Calcium-sulfate water and water containing chlorides and sulfates of calcium, manganese, and sodium are used for drinking. Other therapeutic remedies are the mineralrich silt of Lake Lunevo and the sapropelic mud of Lake Khudykino. The resort offers treatment primarily for disorders of the digestive organs, the musculoskeletal system, the peripheral nervous system, and the skin. Khilovo has a sanatorium and a clinic for balneotherapy and pelotherapy.
