moderate burn moderate burn A thermal injury of moderate severity which should be managed on an inpatient basis. Moderate burns involve 10–20% of the total body surface area (or 5–10% in the elderly or very young); 2–5% is full thickness. Moderate burns may have inhalation injury or include circumferential areas of an extremity. |
