Khobda
Khobda
(in its upper course, Bol’shaia Khobda), a river in Aktiubinsk Oblast, Kazakh SSR, with its estuary on the border with Orenburg Oblast, RSFSR. The Khobda, a left tributary of the Ilek River (Ural basin), measures 225 km in length (363 km including the Karakhobda, a right tributary). It drains an area of 14,700 sq km.
The Khobda flows through the Ural Plateau. It is fed primarily by snow. In summer it breaks up into reaches. The mean flow rate varies from 650 cu m per sec during high water to 3 cu m per sec during low water. The river is used for irrigation.
