Khrami

 

(also Ktsiia-Khrami), a river in the Georgian SSR; a right tributary of the Kura. The Khrami River is 201 km long and drains an area of 8,340 sq km. It rises on the slopes of the Trialet Range and flows through a deep valley. The channel is full of rapids. The river is fed by various sources but predominantly by snow. The mean flow rate is 51.1 cu m per sec (maximum, 448 cu m per sec). The Khrami does not freeze over but forms submerged offshore ice and frazil ice. The chief right tributaries are the Debed and Mashavera. The river is used for irrigation. The Tsalka Reservoir and three hydroelectric power plants are situated on the river.
