Khudayar

Khudayar

Kokand khan of the Ming dynasty (ruled 1845–75). Son of Shir Ali Khan, who was slain in 1845.

Khudayar was repeatedly overthrown by rebellious feudal lords. The advance of Russian troops into Middle Asia forced him to declare the Kokand Khanate, in a treaty signed in 1868, a vassal of Russia. Khudayar was overthrown for the last time during the Kokand Rebellion of 1873–76 and fled to the protection of the tsarist government.
