London International Financial Futures Exchange (LIFFE)

a FORWARD MARKET which is engaged in the buying and selling of FINANCIAL SECURITIES, COMMODITIES, FOREIGN CURRENCIES, DERIVATIVES and SWAPS. LIFFE was taken over in 2001 by the Euronext STOCK MARKET. See EUREX, FINANCIAL SERVICES ACT 1986.

London International Financial Futures Exchange (LIFFE)

a FUTURES MARKET that is engaged in the buying and selling of FINANCIAL SECURITIES and COMMODITIES.

LIFFE's operations have been expanded by the absorption of two other exchanges, the London Traded Options Market and the London Commodity Market. In 1999, LIFFE closed its trading floor and went entirely online. In 2000, it was acquired by the Euronext STOCK MARKET. See DERIVATIVE, FINANCIAL SERVICES ACT 1986.
