Khun Tan
Khun Tan
a mountain range in north Thailand between the Ping and Wang river valleys. Length from north to south, approximately 450 km; elevations, to 2,024 m (Mount Doi Lang Ka). The mountains are composed primarily of granites, limestones, and sandstones. The peaks are massive and rounded, and the slopes are very rugged and steep. There are deposits of tin ores. The Khun Tan is covered with evergreen subtropical broad-leaved and pine forests. Corn, rice, and opium poppies are grown in the intermontane valleys and the foothills.
