Iamashev, Khusain Mingazetdinovich

 

Born Jan. 6 (18), 1882, in Kazan; died there Mar. 13 (26), 1912. Participant in the revolutionary movement in Russia; publicist. Member of the RSDLP from 1903; Bolshevik.

The son of a merchant, Iamashev graduated from the Kazan Teachers’ School in 1902. In 1903 he was named head of the Tatar group of the Kazan Committee of the RSDLP; the group’s work was praised in the Bolshevik newspaper Proletarii (1905, no. 22). Iamashev took part in the Revolution of 1905–07 in Kazan. In 1907 he became a member of the Ufa committee of the RSDLP and helped organize the first legal Tatar Social Democratic newspaper, Ural. Iamashev had a great influence on the ideological development of Tatar revolutionary democratic literature.
