Ophitic Texture

the texture of veined and basic intrusive rocks in which plagioclases form large lath-shaped crystals, with dark minerals, primarily pyroxene, filling the interstices. Such texture is typical of gabbros and low silica diorite. The numerous variations in ophitic texture are related to mineralogical transitions.
