ophthalmic digital imaging systems

A system in which a retinal or corneal camera or slit lamp ophthalmic microscope is coupled to a personal computer so that an immediate, high-resolution, colour digital bit-mapped image of all visibly-accessible parts of the eye may be displayed on the computer monitor for convenient study and may be saved for clinical record-keeping and training purposes. The system, which runs under familiar Windows 98 software, has been described as the most important advance in ophthalmic imaging since the advent of the retinal camera.
