Assault Crossing
(1) Troop crossing of a water obstacle in amphibious combat and transport vehicles, in standard assault crossing means, and in improvised means. The assault crossing usually begins after neutralization of enemy means of fire on the opposite bank of the water obstacle. Sub-units in amphibious tanks and amphibious armored personnel carriers usually cross first. The assault crossing is supported by artillery fire and covered by aviation.
(2) The sector of the water obstacle that troops prepare and use for crossing in water crossing equipment.
