Otonycteris
a genus of bats of the family Vespertilionidae. The body length reaches 8 cm, and the tail length reaches 6.3 cm. The coloration is grayish yellow. The ears are very large, reaching 4 cm in length. A single pair of incisors is found in the upper jaw. There are one or two species, distributed in North Africa and Western Asia. One species, Hemprich’s long-eared bat (Otonycteris hemprichi), occurs in the USSR, in the mountain and foothill regions of Middle Asia. It inhabits rock crevices and man-made structures, emerging at dusk to hunt. The flight is slow and steady.
