Münster Congress of 1645–48

one of the congresses, held in the city of Münster, that led to the conclusion of the Treaty of Westphalia (1648). A Dutch-Spanish peace treaty was also signed at the congress on Jan. 30, 1648, whereby Spain recognized the independence of the Dutch republic.
