Maloarkhangelsk
Maloarkhangel’sk
(until 1778, the village of Arkhangel’skoe), a city; the center of Maloarkhangel’sk Raion in the southern part of Orel Oblast, RSFSR. It is located 14 km from the Maloarkhangel’sk railroad station (on the Orel-Kursk line) and 82 km southeast of Orel, with which it is connected by highway. A hemp factory, a creamery, and a brickyard are located in the city. In 1973 a museum of combat glory was opened in Maloarkhangel’sk to commemorate the units that fought at the Kursk Bulge during the Great Patriotic War of 1941-45.
