Malopolska Upland

an upland in southern Poland, bounded on the east and south by the Vistula Valley. To the west lies the Silesian Upland, and to the north, Wielkopolska-Kujawy and Mazovian-Podlesian lowlands. The Malopolska Upland is composed of limestone, shale, and sandstone, often covered with glacial deposits and loess. It rises to 612 m on Łysa Góra. A significant part of the upland has been plowed up and only small stands of beech and mixed forests remain. There are deposits of iron ore and sulfur. The Malopolska Upland encompasses the Kraków-Częstochowa Ridge and the Kielce-Sandomierz Upland.
