Malorossiiskii Prikaz
Malorossiiskii Prikaz
(Little Russian Office), the central government institution located in Moscow which from 1663 to 1722 administered the Ukrainian lands that had become part of the Russian state. After the reunification of the Ukraine with Russia in 1654 the tsarist government, seeking to consolidate its position in the Ukraine, created the Malorossiiskii Prikaz. In 1722, in connection with the abolition of the prikaz system of government, the Malorossiiskaia Kollegiia (Little Russian Collegium) was established in place of the prikaz.
