Maltsev, Aleksandr

Born Apr. 20, 1949, in the village of Setkovskaia, in Kirovo-Chepetsk Raion, Kirov Oblast. Soviet sportsman, Honored Master of Sport (1969); officer.

Mal’tsev was ice hockey champion of the Olympic Games (1972), the world (four times, 1969-73), and Europe (junior champion in 1968, champion in 1969-73). He was voted the best forward in the world championships of 1970 and 1972. He is captain of the Dinamo team in Moscow.
