Nelidovo
a city under oblast jurisdiction, administrative center of the Nelidovo Raion, Kalinin Oblast, RSFSR. Located on the Mezha River, a tributary of the Zapadnaia Dvina, 240 km southwest of Kalinin. A station on the Rzhev-Velikie Luki rail-road line. Population, 29,800 (1970). A woodworking combine and plants producing plastics, peat-cutting machinery, hardware, and hydraulic presses operate in Nelidovo. A timber procurement establishment is located there, and brown coal is mined. There is a medical school in the city. Nelidovo became a city in 1949.
