Nyírség

a lowland in northeastern Hungary; part of the Central Danubian Plain. Elevation, 100–183 m. The surface of the lowland consists of loess and sand. The soils are degraded chernozems. Most of the area has been plowed and planted with wheat, corn, sugar beets, grapes, and tobacco.
