Bad Ems
(also Ems), a balneoclimatic health resort in the Federal Republic of Germany, in the Land (state) of Rhineland-Palatinate, on the Lahn River, near Koblenz. The climate is fairly mild, with an average July temperature of 19°C and an average October temperature of 9°C. Bad Ems has thermal carbonic-acid hydrocarbonate-chloride-sodium mineral springs, the water from which is used for drinking, bathing, and other types of therapy. Disorders of the digestive system, respiratory ailments other than tuberculosis, and cardiovascular disorders are treated at Bad Ems.
