Kinel’

 

a city in Kuibyshev Oblast, RSFSR. It is a major railroad junction, 41 km east of Kuibyshev. In Kinel’ the main line from Moscow divides into two lines, one going to Ufa-Omsk and the other to Orenburg-Tashkent. Population, 39,000 (1970). Industry includes railroad transport enterprises, a packaging plant, and the production of furniture, clothing, and food products. There is also an agricultural institute. Kinel’ was founded in 1837 and became a city in 1944.
