On Carriage

On Carriage

Freight costs arising after the cost of principal international freight costs. These are usually inland freight charges for delivery within the buyer's country.

On Carriage

In international commerce, costs coming from the delivery of a good after it has arrived in the buyer's country. For example, an exporter in Ireland may sell Waterford crystal to a buyer in Oklahoma. The crystal may be shipped to a port in New Jersey and then carried by train to Oklahoma. The on carriage costs are those resulting from the train ride to Oklahoma. Whether the buyer or seller is responsible for on carriage costs depends on the agreement between them. See also: Incoterm.
