Lefrak, Samuel J. (Jayson)

(1918– ) real estate developer; born in New York City. He joined his father's Brooklyn construction firm, expanding the Lefrak Organization (president 1948, chairman 1975) through the construction of such major housing, industrial, and commercial developments as King's Bay Houses, Brooklyn (1957), Lefrak City, Queens (1960), and later urban renewal projects. The owner of 94,000 New York apartments, he was long the city's largest private residential landlord.
