A long-acting benzodiazepine with anxiolytic, anticonvulsant, sedative and skeletal muscle relaxant properties.While benzodiazepines have a long history of use for managing depression, and as an ancillary agent for managing certain types of pain (e.g., tension headaches and dysmenorrhoea), the Committee on the Review of Medicines (UK) and the Institute of Medicine (US) have recommended against their use for these indications.
