Nachalnaia Shkola

(Primary School), a monthly journal, the organ of the Ministry of Education of the RSFSR. Published in Moscow since 1933.

Nachal’naia shkola is intended for teachers of the first through third grades in general schools. The journal publishes articles about the organization of primary-school teaching and educational work with children, including pupils in small primary schools. It provides information on the use of visual aids and equipment in teaching and publicizes advanced teaching methods. The journal publishes material designed to help teachers broaden their knowledge, discusses current teaching problems, and describes developments in primary education abroad. It also has a section entitled “Criticism and Bibliography.” The journal publishes articles by well-known scholars, specialists in methodology, teachers, school administrators, and public education officials. Circulation, more than 600,000 copies (1974).
