Nematosporoideae

[¦nem·əd·ō·spə′rȯid·ē‚ē] (botany) A subfamily of the Saccharomycetaceae containing parasitic yeasts; two genera have been studied in culture: Nematospora with asci that contain eight spindle-shaped ascospores, and Metschnikowia whose asci contain one or two needle-shaped ascospores.
