Nemda
a river in Kostroma and Ivanovo oblasts, RSFSR, a left tributary of the Volga. It is 146 km long and drains an area of 4,750 sq km. The Nemda rises on the southeastern edge of the Galich Rise and empties into the Nemda Bay of the Gorky Reservoir. It is fed chiefly by snow. The mean flow rate 48 km from the mouth is 28.9 cu m per sec. The river freezes in November and thaws in mid-April. The Nemda is navigable from the Zhukovo landing.

The Nemda flows in the Viatka Uval. It is fed mainly by snow. The mean flow rate 22 km from the mouth is approximately 6 cu m per sec. The river freezes in mid-November and thaws in mid-April. Timber is floated on the Nemda.
