Orochony

Orochony

(also Orochi; from Evenki own, “reindeer”), the prerevolutionary name for a number of Reindeer Evenki groups living to the east of Lake Baikal (Evenki of present-day Baunt Raion of the Buriat ASSR and of the northern regions of Chita and Amur oblasts). The Oroki of Sakhalin Island are sometimes mistakenly referred to as Orochony.
