kininogen

kininogen

[ki-nin´o-jen″] either of two plasma α2-globulins that are kinin precursors. High-molecular-weight (HMW) kininogen (also called Fitzgerald factor) is split by plasma kallikrein to produce bradykinin; low-molecular-weight (LMW) kininogen is split by tissue kallikrein to produce kallidin. Deficiency of HMW kallikrein is a rare condition but may be considered when prolonged time" >activated partial thromboplastin time cannot be explained by deficiencies of other more common factors.
