Ounas
Ounas
(Finnish, Ounasjoki), a river in northwestern Finland, a right tributary of the Kemi. It is approximately 340 km long. The upper section flows along the edge of the Ounas Upland, and the middle and lower sections along a forested, marshy plain. There is high water in summer, and the river is icebound between October and May. Timber is floated on the Ounas. The city of Rovaniemi is near the mouth.
