Location:Scattered across eight counties at 119 sites in the northern lower peninsula of Michigan.
Facilities:Viewing sites.
Activities:Hunting, wildlife observation, birding tours.
Special Features:Site is the only known nesting area of one of the world's rarest birds, the Kirtland's warbler, a small, blue-gray and yellow songbird.
Habitats: 6,684 acres of jack pine growing on Grayling sands.
Access: Open during daylight hours.
Wild life: Kirtland's warbler (endangered), spruce grouse, Nashville warbler, yellow-rumped warbler, eastern towhee, eastern bluebird, black-backed woodpecker, and brown thrasher.
