A catch-phrase for a way of managing post-menopausal bone loss in women for whom oestrogen therapy is contraindicated or unacceptable, by administering phosphorus, followed by calcitonin and calcium in 3 month cycles. The abbreviation translates as
A—Activate new bone cells.
D—Depress osteoclasts during the bone absorption period.
F—Free, relieve bone absorption and stimulate osteoblasts.
R—Repeat the cycle to increase bone density and quality.
