Migration Bedding of Rocks
Migration Bedding of Rocks
a distribution of rocks in the earth’s crust characterized by movement of the area of accumulation of sediments as the axis of downwarp is displaced. Strata retreat sequentially from one side of the downwarp and overlap the base of the downwarp from the other side. As a result the downwarps have a marked asymmetrical structure: thick layers of sediments with full stratigraphic cross sections accumulate on one wing, and thin deposits with reduced stratigraphic cross sections accumulate on the other wing.
