mandibular advancement device

An intraoral device used to treat sleep-disordered breathing, which retains the mandible in an anterior position, relative to centric relation, by means of dental anchorage.

mandibular advancement device

A device composed of wire and plastic that is inserted in the mouth of patients with obstructive sleep apnoea before going to sleep at night. The device moves the mandible forward 4–6 mm and is said to improve sleep quality and reduce sleep apnoea, which is associated with hypertension, CAD and nocturnal angina.
