a city in Zambia, formed by the amalgamation of the cities of Kitwe and Nkana. Population, 179,300 (1969; including suburbs).

Kitwe-Nkana is an important commercial center serving Zambia’s copper belt. It is connected by a railroad branch line with the city of Ndola, the center of the country’s ore-processing industry. There is a major copper mine in Nkana.
