medical detachment

The military medicine members of the US Army Medical Department who are attached to military organisations or stations.
Tables of Organisation (T/O) for each Regiment and separate Battalion of every arm and service (except MEDICAL) include a Detachment of Medical Troops. By definition, both a Battalion and a Regiment are units composed of troops of a single arm or service; thus, any component of a Battalion or Regiment made up of troops of another arm or service must be attached, rather than assigned.
