Manfredonia, Gulf of

an open gulf of the Adriatic Sea, near the shores of Italy, south of Gargano Peninsula. Depths, 12-16 m. The northern shores are high and rocky, while in the south they are low-lying and marshy. The Candelaro and Carapelle rivers discharge into the gulf. At the apex is the port of Manfredonia.
