Lemki

an ethnographic group of Ukrainians living since olden times in the Carpathians, between the San and the Poprad rivers, and also west of the Uzh (Uz) River. As a result of the exchange of populations between Poland and the USSR after the formation of the Polish People’s Republic, some of the Lemki resettled in the plains areas of L’vov, Ternopol’, and Nikolaev oblasts.
