Berkh, Vasilii
Berkh, Vasilii Nikolaevich
Born May 18 (29), 1781, in Moscow; died Dec. 21, 1834 (Jan. 2, 1835), in St. Petersburg. Russian naval historian and geographer. From 1803 to 1806 he participated in the circumnavigation of the globe on the ship Neva under the command of Iu. F. Lisianskii. In the 1820’s he served in the admiralty department. He was a member of the Royal Copenhagen Society.
