Lena Plateau

an elevated plain situated on the southeastern Middle Siberian Plateau, in Irkutsk Oblast and the Yakut ASSR. The average elevation ranges from 450 to 500 m. Extending 750 km between the mouths of the Tira and Dzherba rivers, the plateau is composed of Cambrian and Ordovician gypsum-and salt-bearing limestones, of dolomites, and occasionally of sandstones. It is covered with taiga pine and larch forests; there are meadows in the river valleys. Deposits of gypsum and rock salt are found on the plateau.
